Membership Categories and Tailored Cover with OTSIS  

 

OTSIS membership provides specialised indemnity solutions tailored to the unique complexities of orthopaedic and spinal surgery in the UK. We offer distinct membership streams, ensuring every practitioner, from trainee to high-volume private consultant, receives robust, cost-effective, and fully compliant cover.  

Membership Categories

  We currently offer indemnity solutions across four key membership tiers, designed to match the specific needs and practice scopes of our members:

  1. Trainee Surgeons: Coverage designed for surgeons in specialty training grades, ideally those at ST5 grade and above, as they transition into senior roles. This category covers Trainee Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeons and Trainee Neurosurgeons.
  2. NHS-Only Doctors: Comprehensive, streamlined cover for Consultants dedicated solely to their NHS practice. This category covers NHS-Only Neurosurgeons and Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeons.
  3. Orthopaedic Surgeons (Private Practice): Specialised indemnity for Consultants engaged in general Orthopaedic private practice scope. Crucially, an NHS job role is not a requirement to qualify for this membership stream.
  4. Specialist Spinal Surgeons (Private Practice): Dedicated cover for Orthopaedic Surgeons and Neurosurgeons performing spinal procedures in the private sector.

Important Note on Spinal Surgery Cover: Due to the specialised risk profile and underwriting requirements associated with spinal surgery, cover for this category is provided through different underwriters and is therefore ring-fenced from the majority of the standard OTSIS membership pool.  

How to Join and Request a Quote

  For further information about joining OTSIS, please simply e-mail us at: admin@otsis.co.uk To apply simply click on the relevant link for you below and complete the online application form. You will be asked to provide details necessary for a fair risk assessment, including:

  • The full scope and location of your practice.
  • The number of sessions you work in the NHS and independent sector.
  • Any previous claims brought against you.

This information will be kept confidentially with our brokers. Based on this information, your risk will be assessed against underwriters criteria and your insurance quote calculated.

If your application is accepted, the quote for the cost of your insurance policy will automatically include an annual subscription fee for your membership of OTSIS.
