OTSIS Brokers

MIC is a speciality-specific insurance broker, arranging professional indemnity insurance for doctors practising in the UK, and including an in-house medico-legal advisory service. MIC currently supports consultants from a range of specialties, as well as supporting specialty-specific schemes, such as PRASIS (for plastic surgeons) and OTSIS (for orthopaedic surgeons).

MIC take a collaborative approach to create a strong and beneficial partnership with individual doctors and with the Clinical Boards of the schemes that we support, bringing together a single team of doctors, lawyers, brokers and underwriters all striving to achieve the best outcome we can for OTSIS members. Unlike the traditional medical defence organisations, who offer discretionary assistance on an ‘occurrence’ basis, the products we can arrange give contractual certainty on a ‘claims-made’ basis. As long as you comply with the terms and conditions of your policy, you can be sure that you will be protected if you subsequently face a clinical negligence claim, GMC investigation or other legal process arising from your practice of medicine.
